You Are Getting Sleepy... Hypnosis For Sleep
For many, the word hypnosis conjures up images of black and white spirals and people behaving like chickens. However, hypnosis can actually be a very effective relaxation technique, and one that should be taken more seriously.
Relaxation Response
The relaxation response a person’s ability to use their mind to cause their body to release chemicals and send messages from the brain making the rest of the body relax. Basically, when you’re relaxed, your muscles and organs slow down and more blood flows to your brain. Hypnosis allows you to achieve the relaxation response, and therefore is a great tool for relaxing.
DIY
If you find the idea of having someone else hypnotise you off-putting, don’t stress, because self-hypnosis is a very powerful and effective way to achieve complete relaxation. When hypnotising oneself, it is a good idea to find a quiet, comfortable place before you start, where you won’t be disturbed.
Clear your schedule for at least half an hour, and do your best to get rid of all worrying thoughts before you begin. Many people use affirmations as a part of self hypnosis, and if you choose to do this you should prepare them ahead of time. Using affirmations allows you to improve your self esteem at the same time as becoming completely relaxed.
Music For Sleep
If self-hypnosis doesn’t appeal to you, or just seems too much like hard work, there is a wide range of hypnosis MP3s you can download off the internet, or hypnosis CDs you can purchase. The advantage of listening to these is that it requires less energy than self-hypnosis, so you can still get to a stage of total relaxation even when you are too exhausted to perform the DIY version.
In addition, you can get hypnosis CDs and downloads specific to what you want to achieve. For example, if you want complete relaxation as well as pain relief, you can listen to a track which will help you to achieve this.
Dangers Of Hypnosis?
Although there are some dangers to hypnosis, mainly becoming very susceptible to suggestion, there is very little risk associated with self-hypnosis, because you are in control. You choose what you want to include in your hypnosis session and you decide how you want to do it. The same is true when listening to hypnosis tracks; you only listen to what you want to include.
If you are feeling stressed, or having difficulty relaxing, give hypnosis a try. It’s easy, cheap, doesn’t require a lot of time, and is a great way to become totally relaxed.
